On 25 August 2025, signals from the Indian subcontinent were heard in Salzburg for the first time in the early evening. At around 1730 UT, I was able to receive the late news on Akashvani with the AziLoop antenna pointing at 90°.

The strong Chinese CRI station from Hutubi can already be heard clearly in Salzburg on medium wave 1521 kHz an hour before sunset (17 UT). AziLoop 40°, another fine example of the performance of this antenna.
A great example of how well my new AziLoop antenna works: Yesterday, 17.8. 2025, I was able to listen to Radio Rafaela, a 2 kW station in the city of the same name in the province of Santa Fe in Argentina, on 1470 kHz. The station confirmed my reception today with a very friendly email. Thanks, Tomas!
Radio Las Palmas, ‘La Voz del Campesino’ from the district of Querocotillo, province of Cutervo in the Cajamarca region of Peru, confirmed my report from yesterday on 1360 kHz and sent greetings from ‘Tus Amigos, Segundo Víctor e Ismael Perez Tarrillo y Tito Castillo Castro’. OAZ7N Radio María, from Wanchaq near Cusco in Peru, is my 26th confirmation of a mediumwave station from the Andean country. I heard the station on 26 May 2025 at around 03:00 UT here in Salzburg on 1560 kHz. Many thanks to Giampiero Bernardini for this beautiful QSL.
Since yesterday, many stations from Romania are no longer broadcasting at night, which opens up some great possibilities. Especially if you have an antenna that can be rotated 360°. AziLoop rotated to 65 degrees. Here is a picture of the start of DZME‘s broadcast in the Philippines on mediumwave 1530 kHz at 2055 UT. The station starts its morning broadcast on Saturday and Sunday at 2100 UT. What a delight!

On 22 June 2025, some signals from Peru could be heard again. Even though thunderstorms are now causing a lot of interference, it is always worth trying at sunrise. I was unable to identify some of the stations, especially 1440.012, which played beautiful music from Peru but unfortunately had much too low modulation. Perhaps it is Radio Solar from Espinar, but the offset must have changed recently, as the station was previously heard here on 1440.023.
