On 9 May 2025 at around 22 UT, Phon Nueng. Ror. Or, the station of the 1st Infantry Division, Royal Guard, could be heard from Bangkok on 1350 kHz in Salzburg. A beautiful and rare reception in spring.

Actually not a typical reception in May. KXEL, Waterloo, was heard very strongly in Salzburg at my 335° Beverage on 8 May 2025 around 03 UT on 1540 kHz.

My Bolivia log from yesterday was not quite correct: Fredrik Douren could hear a local announcement from Radio Bendita Trinidad Cochabamba, so it is clear that I did not hear the station from Santa Cruz but the station from Cochabamba. The offset of both stations in the MW list database differed only very slightly – 1479.993 to 1479.994. Cochabamba is the capital of the surrounding Departamento Cochabamba and home to a university. The name comes from the Quechua language and means ‘lake plain’. Thanks to Thomas Nilsson and Fredrik Douren for their help!

Stations from Bolivia are difficult to receive here in Central Europe in the mediumwave band, usually with low signal strengths. Yesterday at around 0030 UT, I managed to receive Radio Bendita Trinidad on 1480 kHz from Santa Cruz de la Sierra, the commercial centre of Bolivia and the capital of the department of Santa Cruz. The city is located on the Pirai River in the tropical plain east of the Andes.

On 30.4.25 I was able to listen to Radio Dios es Amor on 1210 kHz from Huánuco, a town in the Peruvian Andes at 1,880 meters above sea level here in Salzburg.

Surprisingly, the TRT transmitter in Izmir was activated on 927 kHz on April 24, 2025. Presumably due to the earthquake, the transmission of the cultural program was possible in good quality in Salzburg until shortly after 23 UT.

On April 24, mostly signals from the east coast in the mediumwave band. Also heard: CKAD from Middleton, a town in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. Can be heard with country music around 0330 UT on 1350 kHz.

Spring is slowly beginning and with it the first signals from Peru on April 21, 2025.

On April 21, 2025, several stations from Peru were heard in Salzburg for the first time this spring, including Radio Visión “La Voz de Salvación” from Jaén on 1430 kHz.
