Today the single K9AY antenna was installed in perfect weather, loop range now 40 metres, reception performance and switching of direction (Asia/South America) works excellently.

Yesterday the station Sor. Wor. Thor from the Nong Khae district near Bangkok could be heard at the end of transmission at 17.00 UT in Salzburg on mediumwave 891 kHz. Excitingly, sunset at my station is currently at 19.52 CEST, so reception is almost an hour before sunset. Received with the 150 metre Asia Beverage.

Just in time before the deep winter here in Salzburg (if it comes), I improved the earthing of the Beverages. These 80cm long earth electrodes deserve their name and can also be screwed in 75cm deep. The QRN is lowered by a few dBm, which makes the work worthwhile.

Yesterday I mounted a second Beverage antenna. With 250 meters exactly the same length as mine mounted weeks ago, with the same angle. Identical uprights, identical wire spacing. The big difference is in the feed line. This is now done with a symmetrical TWINAX cable, so the topic of equalizing currents and their interference is completely eliminated. The TWINAX feed line goes directly into the station where it is converted to an asymmetrical coax cable just before the antenna switch. The construction of this antenna is a luxury, but only this way you can compare directly and 1:1 whether this variant receives better.
