The end point of the two-wire beverage. The springs keep the wire under tension but can be stretched up to 20 cm so that the wire cannot break under storm and ice load. The terminator is located in the box and at the bottom you can see the earth electrode where the buried radials begin.
Mid-February at my station. The 200 meter Beverage has survived the winter with lots of snow and storms absolutely unscathed, everything is as mechanically sound as the day it was installed.

Last night, January 15, 2024, I was able to make a rare catch. Thomas Nilsson from Sweden was watching the now relatively free frequency 1548 kHz more closely late in the evening and was able to see a carrier on 1547.989, presumably coming from the south. The carrier could be seen very well on my 200 meter Africa Beverage, but reception was not possible due to Radio Farda on exactly 1548 kHz. At 2330 UT the station from Kuwait ended its programme and a clear station and programme announcement from Radio Islam from Lenasia near Johannisburg in South Africa could be heard in Salzburg. The 1 kW station confirmed reception to me this morning. Possibly the first reception of Radio Islam in Europe.
Here are some logs from 27 December 2023, listening with my 150 Meter Asia Beverage pointed towards 70°. The mediumwave signals from Asia are rather weak this season, the Far East – Japan, Philippines – can only be heard very rarely. Overall, however, a nice variety of stations can be heard in the afternoon.

Another special confirmation in the mailbox today: CJDC from Dawson Creek has confirmed my report. The Canadian city in British Columbia is the starting point of the Alaska Highway and home to CJDC Pure Country. The station broadcasts on medium wave 890 kHz and is located exactly at 335° – the direction of my Beverage and has probably not been received very often in Central Europe. Even though I was only able to listen to a few minutes of country music, I am very happy about the reception.
The last few days there were mostly few signals in the medium wave band, 26.11 was a nice exception. There were mainly stations from the east coast, but often with very good signal strength.

West Coast! A very nice confirmation came today for the rare reception of KBSN, Real Country. The station is located in Moses Lake, Washington State and transmits at 1 kW on 1470 kHz. Station owner Jeff Jacobs confirmed my report and said, “This is amazing. It must have bounced down to you from the ionosphere just right.“
