In his Hamparts.shop, Jan Šustr now offers the Web-888 SDR, which has been on the market for a few months, for less than €330 directly in his shop, saving you the insecure sale directly from China.

The Web-888 is basically an improved ‘Kiwi’, which works with 16 bits, provides 13 receive channels simultaneously, also receives and decodes DRM and CW, can decode FT8 receipts ‘stand-alone’ without a PC and forward them to PSK reporters, of course a fully-fledged Web SDR for short and medium wave, operable with the software used in the Kiwi.

Today, December 20, is already Christmas in my neck of the woods: KOZN, Bellevue Nebraska has confirmed reception of its station from yesterday morning on mediumwave 1620 kHz. Now I have confirmed 45 US states, all heard here in Salzburg in the last 12 years.

Tonight there were particularly good North American signals in the mediumwave band here in Salzburg on my Beverage antenna. US stations could be heard on almost all channels, usually even several signals. It will take a lot of time to analyze the SDR recording.

KBRW from Utqiagvik=Barrow can be heard on 680 kHz around 18 UT with interference. Alaska is very weak this season, Utqiagvik has been heard much more regularly in recent years. Beverage 335°, 200 meters.

I only listen to shortwave very rarely now, but I am particularly pleased about this: The Solomon Island Broadcasting Corp. can finally be heard again, the last reception here in December 2023. Around 1915 UT, the morning programme from Honiara with Christmas music can be heard in the tropical band on 5020 kHz. (QRO.cz K9AY++, G33 Excalibur SDR)

In spring I was able to listen to Radio Exclusiva, TGCQ from Guatemala on 1270 kHz in Salzburg. Now the station has confirmed my reception report. I have now confirmed three mediumwave stations from this small Central American country.

Even though there was a power cut in Cuba almost everywhere in the country, Radio Rebelde could be heard this morning, October 20, 2024 around 0530 UT via the 10 kW transmitter in Santa Clara on mediumwave 1550 kHz in Salzburg.
